“You may be the luckiest man alive and not even know it” - Mike Leach
becoming more interesting doesn’t mean adding things to your identity that other people value or aspire to. it’s more self actualization and discovering more about yourself as you continue to evolve from your life and lived experiences.
part of self discovery is inherently limited by the things we are able to experience in life. if born in one place, and you never know experience another, you may evolve to be a different person. exposing ourselves to more things gives us a better likelihood of discovering the best version of ourselves. what’s best is subjective (what you measures matters, what people think leads a good life and maximized potential is different)
as an artist, your job is to expand the things you can expose yourself to, particularly the things of interest and curiosity to you, and leverage these new experiences and inputs to further evolve, develop, and refine your taste.
as we develop our craft, we have the privilege to leverage our skill set to design the world around us, and make things better in service of others.
