Prompt: What American business has benefited your life the most and why?
Reward: 250$
Submission deadline: May 1
This is Kale’s first writing prompt. Feedback is very welcomed. There is no length requirement, individuals can submit as many essays as they’d like, and starting May 1 the voting process will begin.
On June 1, Kale will start the first vetting with a group of community volunteers to select 3-5 of the of the submitted essays. After, Kale will post the selected prompts throughout the following weeks where Kale readers will vote on each essay. In the final week, we will post a final vote, and the winning essay will receive 250$ usd. Submissions can be anonymous if you choose.
Feel free to leave comments with questions. The area I’m most keen for feedback is how to vet the essays as a community, all feedback welcomed.
There is also a new Substack native mobile reader. It’s out on iOS, and Android is coming. It’s already a great experience. All your Substacks in one place, no ads, and liking and commenting feels as easy as Twitter. I wrote about the Substack user experience last September where I attached a Figma prototype of a Substack reader. I think this mobile experience is a really big deal, it will change social media. I’m writing about Substack again. In the meantime, try reading in the new Substack app.

Costco. A very large portion of my family’s necessities are sourced from there. Also, not a single other company has sold me such gourmet, inflation-proof hot dogs.
